The hows and whys of natural foods

What is the advantage of "Nature Valley milk over say "Horizons

What is all the hype about "organic and pseudo organic milk these days?
2.75 at Walmart or Safeway is a long way from $5 for Nature Valley...Just what am I buying for my kids and why? I will willing continue if I know it's really better for them. -Mom trying to budget.

Organic Milk

Organic Valley brand is a farmer owned cooperative made up of several small family farm operations. It is my understanding that they are a good company and adhere to the organic standards set forth by the USDA. On the other hand a very large organic dairy known as Aurora Dairy has just been fined by the government for violating 13 provisions of the USDA organic standards. Including lack of pasture access and feeding non-organic feed to the cattle. Aurora Dairy is owned by Dean Foods which owns Horizon Organic and is also responsible for many store-brand organic milk labels including Safeway. For more info on this issue go to www.cornucopia.org. If you are concerned about your children's health you should seek out a supply of raw milk. For information on raw milk go to www.realmilk.com or www.rawmilk.org. I hope this is helpful!

milk

I've heard some companies will label their products "organic" and take the $10,000 fine, while making several million in increased sales. I don't know if this is the case. Also, Mal-Wart has the power to buy millions at the same time, so they have the power to set their own prices.

You would have to research each company, and see where they get their milk from. Are these cows in pastures? Or are they in industrial size cow houses? What do they get shot up with? How big are the herds? (Bigger herd, more chance of passing disease, so more antibiotics necessary).

Better to just eliminate the milk. Try a nut or seed milk - that new Hemp seed milk is delicious, and much better for your family health. Evolutionarily speaking, do our bodies really need milk after about age 5?

Milk and vitamin D

DID YOU KNOW:
Milk as we know it(commercially packaged)is boiled until there is no life left in it. It is then fortified with vitamins that are inadequate for human supplementation. Most people believe they are recieving benefits from drinking Pasturized/homoginized Milk.

Research proves that you do not supply your body with vitamin D through processed milk. Like most everything commercially packaged, it is overprocessed and can create health issues such as allergies. It is documented that REAL milk is the only milk that really does a body good.
