Operations Coordinator Wanted!

The Board of Directors has determined that the current surge in growth of the co-op will be best nurtured through a hired store operations coordinator. The vision of the co-op continues to include a majority volunteer store staff, however the complexity of large orders and the growth of the store make it important to have continuity of care from a person who will be available to the store most days of the week.

The coordinator will have contact with all of the volunteers, committees, and Board of Directors and would strive in their activities to facilitate the success of the co-op by training and encouraging volunteers, utilizing volunteers according to their best capacities, consulting with the committees (finance, ordering, physical plant, and member services) to streamline the exchange of information necessary to effectively function, and consult with the Board of Directors to maintain a continuing process of action and reflection toward the successful growth and development of Breadroot.

The starting wage has been established at $7.00 and hour, with an anticipated 20 hours a week of service to Breadroot. Applicants should submit a letter of interest to the Board of Directors by July 26. Interviews with potential candidates will be scheduled for 6pm July 28.

Essential activities of the coordinator include:

  1. Communication in person and by phone with members and volunteers and outside contacts such as suppliers.
  2. Ability to use and train others to use the computer systems of Breadroot, both current and under development.
  3. Ability to use and train others to use the scales, register, telephone, coolers and other equipment essential to the operations of a retail food store
  4. Ability to plan, organize and track the flow of inventory from point of ordering to point of sales, including communication with vendors for maintenance of accounts.
  5. Ability to properly handle and maintain the inventory of Breadroot (stacking, opening and unpacking boxes, lifting up to 50lbs on occasion, 25 lbs regularly, and 10 lbs frequently, standing and walking throughout the store frequently)
  6. Ability to cooperate with, diplomatically delegate to, and continually encourage volunteers in all co-op activities.
  7. Ability to recognize and maintain the co-op in the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness. Including overseeing or completing the cleaning of floors, windows, shelves, counters, bathrooms, kitchen, and outside of the store. Supervising and training all staff involved in food handling according to the regulations set by the Department of Health. overseeing or completing cares necessary for the safe and comfortable movement of persons from the parking areas and through the store. (Shoveling snow, de-icing, keeping floors dry, etc)
